Privacy policy
Last updated: September 2026
ThinkSpace Clinical Psychology (“ThinkSpace”, “we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, including health information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and relevant NSW health privacy law.
What information we collect
We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services. This may include:
- your name, date of birth, address, phone number and email address;
- Medicare, private health insurance, NDIS, workers compensation or other funding details;
- referral letters, Mental Health Treatment Plans and information from your GP or other treating practitioners;
- health information you share with us during assessment and treatment, and clinical notes, measures and reports;
- emergency contact details; and
- for clinical supervision, your professional registration details and training program requirements.
How we collect it
We usually collect information directly from you – in person, by phone, by email, via telehealth or through the enquiry forms on this website. With your consent, or where the law allows, we may also collect information from your referrer, GP, other health professionals, insurers or funding bodies.
Please don’t include detailed clinical information in website enquiry forms. We’ll gather that with you securely once we’re in touch.
Why we collect, use and disclose it
We use your information to assess and provide psychological care, communicate with you, manage appointments and billing, process Medicare and other claims, and meet our professional and legal obligations. We may disclose information:
- to your referring GP or other treating practitioners, as part of your care and with your consent;
- to Medicare, private health insurers, NDIS, insurers or other funders, where you have asked us to claim on your behalf;
- in de-identified form in clinical supervision, consistent with professional standards; and
- where required or authorised by law – for example a subpoena, mandatory reporting, or where there is a serious threat to someone’s life, health or safety.
We do not sell your information or use it for marketing without your consent.
Telehealth
Telehealth sessions are conducted using secure, encrypted video platforms. Sessions are not recorded without your explicit consent.
How we store and protect it
Clinical records are held in secure, password-protected practice management software. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Records are kept for the periods required by law (generally at least seven years after the last contact, or until a person who was a child turns 25) and are then securely destroyed.
Website and overseas storage
This website is hosted by WordPress.com (operated by Automattic). Information you submit through our website forms is stored by WordPress.com (Automattic) and its service providers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. Our website may also use cookies and basic analytics to understand how the site is used; these do not identify you personally.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. Please contact us in writing. We will respond within a reasonable time (usually 30 days). In limited circumstances permitted by law, access may be refused, and we will explain why.
Anonymity
You may make a general enquiry without identifying yourself. However, it is usually not practicable to provide psychological treatment or Medicare rebates anonymously.
